Song of the Day 53!!!

This band I very recently heard about and I am in love with them. They are called Bombay Bicycle Club and the song that introduced me is number 53. Its called "Always Like This". I have listened to this on my Zune the last couple of nights and its a very soothing and dreamy, yet complicated song. I enjoy the video as well. Very different. They all seem so young too! Just watch! Enjoy!

Oh she can wait,
For what I can give
She knows what I am but
She won’t believe me
Is it all ok?
Will I come off the lightest?
I can’t believe it
It’s always like this

Kept it at bay
Yes you kept your words
There on your mouth
But it’s not what I heard

If I follow the light
That I deem the brightest
I won’t believe it
It’s always like this

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

[Repeat]

I’m not whole

Oh you can wait
For what I can give
You know what I am
So you know how I live
Try to look proud
But you’re not in the slightest
Its happening now
And it’s always been like this

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

[Repeat]

I’m not whole

Song of the Day 52!!!

Happy Valentines Day! Just wanted to get that out. Nothing Valentines-y about this video. This editions band is Superchunk, a band I have been listening got for quite a while now. So much so, I can name the band as soon as one of their songs start on my Zune. They are a great band that has earned their place. The song I chose is one of their latest songs "Digging for Something". Its so damn catchy! Enjoy!

Update: Congrats to Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan's Merge Records from having one of their artists get Album of the Year at the Grammys.

ANOTHER UPDATE: This video is watchable in YouTube. I have no idea what this whole "not available in your country" thing is. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I hear there's a classic mess out on Old 86,
a ride out there could be the thing to get us fixed
I left a shadow there last month stuck in the ground
could still be around

and we laughed when the paddle boat sank
we were dancing on the propane tank
everybody in the half-light out on the lawn
they were kicking up dust 'til they were gone

oh oh oh, they were digging for something

who's the shadow now? the party moved inside
I don't know how to dance this slow but I can try
one funny thing, I claimed to know the host
yeah but I lied
let's go you early riser

and we laughed when the paddle boat sank
we were dancing on the propane tank
everybody in the half-light down at the pond
they were sinking in mud 'til they were gone

oh oh oh, they were digging for something

it's just getting dark and you're waking up
waking up, waking up
it's just getting dark and you're waking up
waking up, waking up

oh oh oh, they were digging for something

Song of the Day 51!!!

You may or may not have heard of Elliott Smith, but I suggest you find him out. I'm not going to be all hipster and say that I liked him before he got all famous, or even before his death. He has a wonderful sound coupled with wonderful lyrics making. My favorite song by him "waltz#2" did not have a video, but this one "Baby Britain" is fantastic as well. Close to having to choose your favorite child. Anywho, enjoy!

Baby Britain feels the best
Floating over a sea of vodka
Separated from the rest
Fights problems with bigger problems
Sees the ocean fall and rise
Counts the waves that somehow didn't hit her
Water pourning from her eyes
Alcohol again, very bitter

For someone half as smart, you'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help until you start

We knocked another couple back
The dead soldiers lined up on the table
Still prepared for an attack
They didn't know they'd been disabled
Felt a wave, a rush of blood,
You won't be happy 'til the bottle's broken
You're out swimming in the flood
You kept back, you kept unspoken

For someone half as smart, you'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help you until you start

You've got a look in your eye when you're saying goodbye
Like you want to say hi

The light was on but it was dim
Revolver's been turned over
And now it's ready once again
The radio is playing Crimson and Clover
London Bridge is safe and sound
No matter what you keep repeating
Nothing's gonna drag me down
To a death that's not worth cheating

For someone half as smart, you'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I can't help until you start
For someone half as smart, you'd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
