Song of the Day 34!!!

I thoroughly enjoy this band. I like the airy voice of the lead singer, the harmonizing of the bass and guitar and the unsuspected drums. The band is called Minipop and the song is called "Like I Do". Not only is the song nice and light, but the video is weird as crap. So, enjoy!

Don’t go again
I will lead the light you wanted in
Maybe tonight
I’ll focus on the letters I should write
I was driving all the night
Just so I could feel you by my side

Who loves you
Like I do

There’ll come a time
Everyone you know will say goodbye
Your colors show
Brighter than the men I used to know
I was driving all the night
Just so I could feel you by my side

Who loves you
Like I do

Song of the Day 33!

So this video came out a few days ago as did the song. The song is called "Daylight" by Matt and Kim. I love everything about this song and video. It is off their new album. Find them on myspace and check it out! Enjoy.

we cut the legs off of our pants
threw our shoes into the ocean
sit back and wave through the daylight
sit back and wave through the daylight

slip and slide on subway grates
these shoes are poor mans ice skates
fall through like change in the daylight
fall through like change in the daylight

i miss yellow lines in my roads
some color on monochrome
maybe i’ll paint them in myself
maybe i’ll paint them in myself

these sidewalks liquid then stone
building walls and an old pay phone
it rings like all through the daylight
it rings like all through the daylight

and in the daylight we can hitchhike to maine
i hope that someday i’ll see without these frames
and in the daylight i don’t pick up my phone
cause in the daylight anywhere feels like home

I have five clocks in my life
and only one has the time right
i’ll just unplug it for today
ill just unplug it for today

open hydrant rolled down windows
this car might make a good old boat
and float down grand street in daylight
and float down grand street in daylight

and with just half of a sunburn
new yellow lines that i earned
step back and here comes the night time
step back and here comes the night time

and in the daylight we can hitchhike to maine
i hope that someday i’ll see without these frames
and in the daylight i don’t pick up my phone
cause in the daylight anywhere feels like home

Song of the Day 32!

I know it has been a month, but it is hard to find good songs with good video anywhere anymore.

This edition is from a band called "Ted Leo and the Pharmacists" and the song is called "Me and Mia". Its a wonderful song in my opinion. I have been listening to Ted Leo for god knows how long. I really hope you enjoy this song and video!

The original vi I posted was taken down and now I cant find an original anywhere worthwhile, but this live version is just as good. So, the lyrics may be a bit different.

As I was walking through a life one morning
the sun was out, the air was warm, but
Oh, I was cold
And though I must have looked half a person,
to tell the tale, in my own version,
It was only then that I felt whole

Do you believe in something beautiful?
Then get up and be it

Fighting for the smallest goal: to get a little self-control
I know how hard you try. I see it in your eyes
But call your friends, 'cause we've forgotten what it's like to eat what's rotten
And what's eating you alive might help you to survive.
We went on as we were on a mission, latest in a Grand Tradition
And oh, what did we find?
It was Ego who was flying the banner, and me and Mia, Ann and Ana
Oh, we'd been unkind

But do you believe in something beautiful?
Then get up and be it

Fighting for the smallest goal: to get a little self-control
I see it in your eyes, I see it in your spine.
But call your friends,
'cause we've forgotten what it's like to eat what's rotten
And what's eating you alive, might help you to survive.

And even the nights, they could get better
And even the days ain't all that bad
And after a week of fighting, as more and more it seems the right thing

But do you believe in something beautiful?
Then get up and be it

Fighting for the smallest goal: to gain a little self-control
Won't anybody here just let you disappear?
Not doctors, nor your mom and dad, but me and Mia, Ann and Ana
Know how hard you try. Don't you see it in my eyes?
Sick to death of my dependence, fighting food to find transcendence
Fighting to survive, more dead but more alive
Cigarettes and speed for livin', and sleeping pills to feel forgiven
All that you contrive, and all that you're deprived
All the bourgeois social angels telling you you've got to change
Don't have any idea. They'll never see so clear.
But don't forget what it really means to hunger strike
when you don't really need to
Some are dying for a cause, but that don't make it yours.

And even the nights, they could get better.

Song of the Day 31!!!

Ok. I have heard this artist before, kinda forgot about him, then had my memory reintroduced to him. His name is Andrew Bird and has a very unique sound. The song I am posting doesnt have an official video, but I really wanted to share this song with you. He does an even better job live (in my opinion) anyway. Its called "A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left". Enjoy!!!

Stretched out on a tarmac
Six miles south of North Platte
He can't stand to look back
Sixteen tons of hazmat
It's what goes undelivered
Undelivered

It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
Of the what, of the head to the left
So exercise yourselves to your bereft
'Cause it's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left of the, of the, to the

Splayed out on a bath mat
Six miles north of South Platte
He just wants his life back
What's in that paper nap sack
It's what goes undelivered
Undelivered

It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the left
A nervous tic motion of the head
Head to the left
It's a nervous tic motion of the, of the, to the
Left

It's a nervous tic motion of the head to the, of the, of the head of the head to the

Over imbibed
Under the mister
Barely alive we cover the blisters in flannel
Though the words we speak are banal
Now one of them's a lie
Now one of them's a lie
You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died

Song of the Day 30!!!

This one is quite a bit different. Its all German, but the beat and the video are amazing. It will get stuck in your head. Its called "Alles Neu" by Peter Fox. Enjoy!!!

(No Translated Lyrics. Sorry.)

Hey, alles glänzt, so schön neu.
Hey, wenns dir nicht gefällt, mach neu. (Hou...)
Die Welt mit Staub bedeckt, doch ich will sehn wo's hingeht.
Steig auf den Berg aus Dreck, weil oben frischer Wind weht.
Hey, alles glänzt, so schön neu.

Hey, alles glänzt, so schön neu.
Hey, wenns dir nicht gefällt, mach neu. (Hou...)
Hey, alles glänzt, so schön neu.

(Update 12/31/10 Translated if you so care!)
I burn my studio or sniff the ashes like coke.
I killed my goldfish, bury him in the yard.
I jag up my place, all I have I let go. (Eh ..)
My old life tastes like s labriger toast.
I cook a superb steak, Peter cooks now finest meat.
I am the update, Peter Fox 1.1.

abshaken I want to celebrate, but my pond is too small.
I grow a new set of more like the white shark.
Waxed, doped, polished, brand new teeth.
I'm euphoric, and have expensive plans.
I buy construction machines, excavators and rollers and cranes.
Throw myself at Berlin, press on the siren.
I build beautiful box towers, Bass massage your soul.
I am the wrecking ball for the ddd-German scene.

Hey, everything shines, so beautifully new.
Hey, if you do not like it, again. (Hou ..)
The world is covered with dust, but I want to see where it's going.
Climb up the mountain of dirt, because fresh above wind blows.
Hey, everything shines, so beautifully new.

I'm tired of my old stuff, and let them rot in a sack.
The clothes moth, and then I'll go shopping naked.
I am completely renovated, brides have something to stare at.
Healthy, well trained, world champion in chess and boxing.
Only concrete talk, give me a yes or no.
No more nonsense, I'll let all the old faxes.

Should I ever smoke pot, I'll thump 'an ax in the leg.
I will never lie again, I want each sentence and mean it.
My head is bursting, I must change everything.
I look for the button, meet the powerful men.
Force the country to happiness, buy banks and broadcasters.
Everything is going crazy, trembling sheep and lambs.
I look better than Bono and I am man of the people.
Ready to save the world, even if perhaps too much wanted.

Hey, everything shines, so beautifully new.
Hey, if you do not like it, again. (Hou ..)
Here the air is exhausted, breathing hard for me.
Bye Bye I have to get out here, the walls are getting closer.
The world is covered with dust, but I want to see where it's going.
Climb up the mountain of dirt, because fresh above wind blows.
Hey, everything shines, so beautifully new.

Song of the Day 29!!!

Ok, so Greg Laswell has one of the most beautiful singing voices out there. He automatically lulls me into a part of my mind that I didnt think was there. The part where you start thinking about new things or see things in a new light. He is absolutely wonderful. This song helps me bring new light to a recent situation with me. Its called "How the Day Sounds". Enjoy!

Who would've ever known it could be this easy
Oh, I was a long, long way off

And just like that it's over
Everything that I knew of love
I was a long, long way off

And I think I like how the day sounds
Like how the day sounds through this new song

Thank you for opening the window
The sky is clear as my mind is now
I was a long, long way off

Join me in welcoming the sun in
It's much brighter than the night I hid in
I was a long, long way off

And I think I like how the day sounds
Like how the day sounds through this new song

From a long way down
Yeah, it's well worth the time that it's taken to get here now
Yeah, it's well worth the time that it's taken to get here now

So go ahead and bang a gong
Nothing can drown out the sound of the whisper of my love

And I think I like how the day sounds through this new song

And the lines have all been drawn
I know where I belong, where I belong

Oh, won't you sing along?
Oh my love, won't you sing along?

Song of the day 28!!!

The band for the song of the day today is called "Minus the Bear". I absolutely love them. They make very interesting and peaceful music. It makes you listen to every little part in the song. The song is called "Pachuca Sunrise".
Enjoy!

Midnight on a beach in the Mediterranean
And I miss you
Even here, taking it all in
The sand, silvered, carries the moon on its shoulders
Is it possible to put this night to tune, and move it to you?

Don't cry, I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this night light enough to move
Don't cry, i'll bring this home to you

Cargo ships move by, tracing on the horizon line
There's a luster from the city lights on the waves that kiss our feet
And we're thinkin' of goin' in (thinkin' of goin' in),
The time's getting thin

Don't cry I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this night light enough to move
Don't cry I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this, if I can make this...

Don't cry I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this night light enough to move
Don't cry I'll bring this home to you

This is a city for not sleeping; The clocks are set by feel
At this moment, from where I sit, none of it seems real

Don't cry I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this night light enough to move

Don't cry I'll bring this home to you,
If I can make this night light enough to move

If I can make this, if I can make this move
If I can make this move
