Flashback: SOTD 17 & 18

Sorry I havent posted lately. I have been really busy. And to top it off, first my filling fell out, now my tooth is chipping away. Is it really that hard to find a good dentist around my little town that isnt legally allowed to have female patients due to a lawsuit? Haha, I kid. To make up for it, I will post one more Flashback after this one.

Song 17 is from the band Tokyo Police Club. This is a band I listen to so much that I get sick of it, but a few months later, I will listen to it and fall in love all over again. The song I chose is "Tessellate". Enjoy!

All the boys who called their mothers on that day
Were no tough bunch but they had the nerves to go and say
That all your secrets were drowned
With the pioneers who were flooded from this town
They packed their bags only moments too late
With the pounding waves crashing up against the weakened water gates

Because dire times call for dire faces
So lovely dancer, call and answer
Trade our places in the night
We're running barefoot, you and I
Dead lovers salivate
Broken hearts tessellate tonight

And all the kids who cut their knees on that old schoolyard fence
Were holding out for posterity and self-defense
We beat them down again
There's no fun in playing cowboys for pretend
We showed them what the backs of our hands is for
The divide is clear in the coming year
The rich will take the poor

Because dire times call for dire faces
So lovely dancer, call and answer
Trade our places in the night
We're running barefoot, you and I
Dead lovers salivate
Broken hearts tessellate tonight

The 18th song comes from the band Headlights. I actually dislike about 90% of bands with female lead singers. Sometimes I will ignore it if the band is really good. But this is one where the lead singers voice makes her one my my favorite female singers. The harmonies go great with this band. Enjoy! (The lyrics I found were butchered, so I tried my hardest to fix them. Please comment if the lyrics are wrong.)

You could wake up
on a morning and try
to feel so good
that you didn't know why
and the things they're like
stop me from crying
in my bed at night
they stop me from crying

I couldn't take up
more space in my mind
there's a back door isn't easy to find
as a call from self-indulgence
we don't need a war
to prove that we're selfish

so can you tell me
that you feel the same
when you stare at the faces
full of so much shame

or is it you're too high
to tell us the part
so you can live your life
and keep up your lying

I cant even stand to watch the TV
liars and the killers keep staring at me
and the boys and the girls
you can tell their free
they grow up to destroy
everything that they see
